Pinterest pin scheduling to the right board
Every pin needs a board, a strong title and a link that works. Postwoo discovers your boards, makes you pick one before scheduling, and publishes through Pinterest's official API v5 — then reports impressions, saves and outbound clicks as Pinterest defines them.
What agencies use it for
- Image, carousel (2–5 images) and video pins with titles and alt text
- Pick the board per pin from the composer
- Edit a pin's title, description or link after it is live
- Impressions, saves, pin clicks and outbound clicks per day
Exactly what Pinterest allows
Live from the integration itself. Statuses move from pending verification to supported only after an end-to-end check with approved credentials.
Platform limits we enforce before you schedule
The composer checks these for every target so a post is never queued only to fail later.
- Every pin needs a board: pick one in the composer (boards are discovered as locations) or set platform option board_id.
- One pin per API call: title ≤100 characters, description (the post body) ≤800, alt text ≤500, one destination link.
- Images: JPEG or PNG, 2:3 aspect ratio recommended (1000×1500 px), ≤20 MB (assumption). 2–5 images become a carousel pin.
- Video: MP4/MOV, 4–15 minutes max depending on account, ≤2 GB; a cover image (first attached image) or key-frame time is used as the thumbnail. Video is uploaded directly and processed asynchronously.
- Images are fetched by Pinterest from a public HTTPS URL (APP_URL / S3).
- Trial-access apps must use the sandbox host (PINTEREST_API_BASE=https://api-sandbox.pinterest.com) and can only pin to their own test accounts.
What the platform requires
- A Pinterest developer app (developers.pinterest.com) with the redirect URI …/oauth/pinterest/callback and the scopes boards:read, boards:write, pins:read, pins:write, user_accounts:read.
- New apps have *trial* access: limited to the sandbox API (https://api-sandbox.pinterest.com) and the developer's own account. Request *standard* access (app review with a demo of the Postwoo flow) before connecting client accounts; then set PINTEREST_API_BASE=https://api.pinterest.com.
- Account analytics require a Pinterest business account; pin analytics are only returned for pins owned by the connected account.
- Access tokens last about 30 days and are refreshed with the refresh token (valid about one year); refresh_token_expires_in is honoured when present.
- Rate limits are per app and endpoint (Pinterest documents roughly 1,000 calls per minute for most endpoints — assumption); Postwoo paces at 120 calls per minute per connection.
- Images are fetched by Pinterest from a public HTTPS URL, so APP_URL or S3 must be reachable from the internet.
Postwoo handles the app side. You connect with an account that has the right role on the platform.
Questions, answered honestly
Why does Postwoo ask me to choose a board?
Pinterest requires every pin to belong to a board. Postwoo lists your boards when you connect and checks that one is selected before the post can be scheduled.
Do I need a Pinterest business account?
Publishing works with any account. Account analytics are only available for business accounts, so Postwoo marks them unavailable for personal ones instead of showing zeros.
Why can only some people connect Pinterest right now?
New Pinterest apps start with trial access, which only works for the developer's own test account. Once Pinterest grants standard access, any client can connect.
